Visit a CA school

Do you want to see good quality thinking lessons taught by experienced practitioners? Do you want to visit a school that has embedded What is CA? at whole-school level? Do you want to talk to school senior leaders about using CA as a school improvement approach or models for whole school professional development?

The following schools are willing to host visits by other interested colleagues. These visits are charged at £100 per person per day, with discounts for additional colleagues or groups of visitors.

Bealings School, Suffolk - This small village primary school of 100 pupils leads on several innovative approaches to teaching and learning, including CA in Maths. Contact Pam Fletcher bealings_school@yahoo.co.uk

Coopers Lane Primary, Lewisham - An inner city primary school with a diverse range of pupils where all teaching and support staff have been trained in What is CA?, which is integrated into the KS1 and KS2 mathematics schemes of work from the Primary Framework. CA provides the foundation for a shared ethos of mathematics teaching and underpins current projects to extend methods of assessment for learning in mathematics. Grafton Primary School, Islington - This two-form entry inner city primary has adopted a whole school approach to CA, using CA maths alongside P4C. Both teachers and TAs experience ongoing training in CA methodology. Contact Anna Sutton suttonannae@yahoo.com

The Grey Coat Hospital School, Westminster, London - This secondary school has been running the CASE scheme since 1995 in Years 7 and 8. A Teacher's TV programme on CASE was made at the school and broadcast in April 2010. Visits can be arranged, including lesson observation, by contacting Tom Xavier on txavier@gch.org.uk

Hylton Red House School, Sunderland - This inner city primary school has been using What is CA? as a lever for school improvement and has just come out of Special Measures, achieving Good with Outstanding features. Contact Alan Edmiston alan@cognitiveacceleration.co.uk

Welton Primary School, East Yorkshire – This community primary school of 200 pupils is working to integrate CA into their whole school curriculum to improve teaching and learning.
